Hi everyone,

For our next tvyarn sock club series, tvyarn will be celebrating Romantic Comedy Movies!

There will be three shipments for this series. The yarn base will be my 100% superwash yarn. Each month, you may choose fingering or sport weight tvyarn. For one of the shipments, members will have the opportunity to vote for the Romantic Comedy movie for that month by using a poll on the club blog. And there will also be contests now and then on the club blog.

With each shipment, you will receive
- An exclusive color way of tvyarn as inspired by that month's Romantic Comedy movie. During the series, you will receive two multi-color variegated color ways and one semi-solid color way.
- A theme-related stitch marker
- At least two more theme-related, fun surprises.PLUS, in one of the three shipments, you will receive a cute - and useful - sock project bag or tote. The shipment it arrives with will be a surprise.

The shipments will be the first week of March, April, and June, 2008. The price for the series is $100 plus $13.80 shipping. Signups begin immediately. If you join, you will receive a paypal invoice for the entire amount during the third week of January 2008. To join send email to whiteoakstudio AT yahoo DOT com. Signups will end when the club is full OR on January 5, 2008 (which ever comes first). Spaces are very limited.

A winner!

Hi everyone!
I had a wonderful, exciting, and exhausting trip to New Mexico last week; my flights home were supposed to take 5 hours total but ended up taking 14 hours! whew! I was very glad to get home.

But then I had to count all those yarn skeins! So the total number of skeins of yarn in my dye studio is.... 698 skeins! Laura's guess at 723 was the closest, so Laura I'll be sending you the prize - congratulations!

Today my parents are flying here from Michigan to stay with us for 10 days. They came for Grandparent's Day at my son's school and they also came to help me at my booth at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival in Asheville, NC. We'll be staying at a cabin near the Blue Ridge Parkway; I can't wait to see the Fall colors.

When I get back from Asheville I do some fun things on this blog, Jana

Socks Done!

I finished my Thelma & Louise socks... also known as Roza's Socks:

Roza's Socks (aka Thelma & Louise Socks)

Yarn: White Oak Studio TVyarn in Thelma & Louise
Pattern: Roza's Socks from IK Spring 2007
Needles: Size 1.5

I totally love the way that the colors came out, and if you have not worked with this pattern before, you must. Very easy and fun at the same time!

Sporty

I got the sport weight this time around and I love it. I can't wait to cast on! So many socks, so little time...

Got my package!!

WOW!! I LOVE it! I have taken pictures but not posted them on my blog yet so no spoilers from here. But I love the colorway and it's one of my most favorite movies! YAY!!!

A contest!

Hi everyone! well I decided not to wait for a contest; I'm ready for some fun now! The picture above is the prize - the book Better Living Through Television: the Guide to Life. Hey this is what tvyarn is all about! Finally someone else recognizes how much wisdom we gain from watching television! Here's some quotes from the book:
"when guys are persistent, it's romantic. They make movies about that. When it's a woman, then they cast Glenn Close" - Clista Flockhart as Ally McBeal on Ally McBeal
"I wanna do it, Gus. I wanna see that country, before the bankers and lawyers all git it." Tommy Lee Jones as Woodrow Call on Lonesome Dove
"My wife had left me, which was very painful. Then she came back to me, which was excruciating". Kelsey Grammer as Fraiser Crane on Fraiser
ok, so here's the contest question: how many skeins of yarn do I have in my downstairs dye studio right now? I don't know the answer yet but I need to do some inventory next week. I have quite a bit of undyed yarn to dye since I have the SAFF fiber festival to prepare for. I also have some dyed yarn inventory built up to sell there. And I have an order for Woolgirl to ship out on Monday, so that is down there too. This will only be yarn that I intend to sell, not yarn in my personal stash.
Also, remember that for fingering, I sell 2 skeins (350 yrds) to make one pair of socks, and for sport weight, I sell 1 skein (225 yds) for one pair of socks.
You can put your guess in the comments or send me email, which ever you prefer whiteoakstudio at yahoo dot com You have until 5pm Sat Oct 13 to guess.
Good Luck! Jana

My Thelma & Louise Socks

I have been wondering what patterns people have been using with their tv sock yarn. With the Thelma & Louise yarn, I decided to work on Roza's socks from the Spring 2007 Issue of IK:

Roza's Socks (aka Thelma & Louise Socks)...

As you can tell, my dog Kasey seriously enjoys getting into most of my photos...

Packages mailed

Hi everyone! Here's the packages ready to mail; they were sent out yesterday. How do you like my mighty guard dog? She had to take her morning nap. That's my gorgeous girl Scout.

I'm out of town this Sunday through Saturday, so if there's any problems I'll make it right when I return. And we'll have a contest then too.

Hope you like this shipment! Enjoy! Jana

Contest winner and poll for next series

Hi everyone! I've been enjoying reading your posts here, on your blogs and on ravelry. I'm so glad you are enjoying the "Thelma & Louise" shipment!

I entered names in the contest, as promised, and the winner is Jen J. ! Congratulations Jen!

I'll be sending Jen a set of these stitch markers and the handy-dandy container for them.

I'm already thinking about the NEXT tvyarn club series and I need a theme so I can start ordering the goodies! I'd love some input, so let's see if this poll helps. The next series will begin early next year (and please vote for fun, no obligation to do the next series, of course).

Ready For A Road Trip

Well I am, and the destination looks like the southwest! Received my kit a few days ago. The yarn and goodies were such a treat. I felt like a kid at Christmas! Beautiful texture and colors to the yarn. I'm thinking possibly the monkey socks or crusoe socks from knitty.com

I received the first sock kit and just love everything! I posted a pic up on my blog. The colorway is gorgeous and is helping me get through all the gray knitting I've been doing lately!

in the mood for a road trip!

Got my shipment yesterday... So thrilled! I don't know why, but the sunglasses put this sock club installment over the top for me. The whole themed club thing just puts a smile on my face!

I wish I had known Thelma and Louise was on TV recently; I would have tivo'd it and watched it while I cast on with the new yarn. I don't yet know what I'll pick pattern-wise, but I've got to get a few other socks off of the needles first!

Love It!

I got my kit yesterday. it was a great surprise (I forgot it had even shipped). I can't wait to get started. Now, what shall I knit....

Perfect

I got my kit today. The mailman just left it on the porch, as if it was simply a typical package. He should have a drum roll recording or something, to signify what was on the porch. YES! I love it. The bag is so great, the stitch marker, and the yarn (too perfect, I love the colors). I am very happy with my kit (uh, the sunglasses were missing one of their side pieces, but that's okay cuz I wear glasses so I couldn't wear them anyway). Also, if anyone is interested www.woolgirl.com has a Christmas Story tvyarn sock kit to be sent in November. I have ordered tvyarn from woolgirl and she is fast to ship and so nice. So what a great match with tvyarn and woolgirl. I don't know if there are any spots left (I got on the list today). After seeing my chick flick sock club kit, I think Christmas Story would be great. It was my movie choice for favorite Christmas movie, in Jana's contest. Oh, this is off topic, but has anyone tried the new Knit Picks Harmony wooden needles for use with the options? I ordered a couple for sock knitting tonight and was wondering how well they work - I have a problem with bamboo needles breaking when I knit socks. Yeah, I knit t-i-g-h-t, sometimes I think I can even hear the poor yarn squeaking. I think I will have to go cast on some Monkey's with my new yarn, what is anyone else knitting with the new yarn?

WOW!

WOW!! I love this kit! And the yarn! So yummy! I haven't decided what pattern to use, I'm thinking Monkey socks. And I have pics on my blog.

I received my kit today!

I received my kit today and was blown away! WOW! This colorway is fantastic and the bag and extra goodies are wonderful! Thank you Jana! I'm so excited to start knitting my Thelma and Louise Socks! I will post on my blog in the next week!

I got it! I Got it!

O.K. I will not show you pictures so I that I don't spoil it for anyone!

OMG! The Thelma and Louise installment is Fabulous! I LOVE it! I can't wait to cast on! I'm going to photograph it now but wait a few days to post on my blog.

Thanks Jana--You are amazing!

WOOHOO..what a thing to wake up to!!!

Patiently waiting??

Yeah! I am so glad the sock club is already in the mail. I can't wait to see the color. Thelma and Louise was on tv tonight and I have tivo'd it. It may still be on (in other areas - I'm west coast and tivo'd the east coast feed). So I guess I'll go watch it and knit my Lost socks (really pretty colorway) and wait for the mailman. I am so excited to be in this sock club - I just stumbled into it, because we have the same first name. Karma! Have a great day, everyone.

September Contest

Hi all! for our first contest, everyone has a chance to win. To start I'll put everyone's name in a hat. If you post a note to either this blog or your blog when you receive your September shipment, I'll put your name in the hat again (2 chances then). If you post a note and a photo of the shipment to this blog or your blog, your name goes in the hat again (that would make 3).

If you don't want to spoil the surprise don't look at the blogs until you receive and open your shipment (sorry that's the best I can come up with)!

I'm still mulling over what the prize will be.... You have until Friday Sept 14 midnight to post, then I'll have my son draw the winning name.

thanks! Jana

They are on their way!

The first shipment of the Tvyarn Sock Club is on its way to you via Priority USPS! Yes I missed my shipment date of Sept 1 and I'm sorry about that. I decided to put something extra in the shipment so I think you'll be happy once you receive it! And, boy, did I learn an thing or two about planning a ship date! Plan much more time than you think you will need. Last week one of the items I was waiting for did not arrive, so I phoned the company and they said "oh that is back-ordered indefinitely". Yikes! So I thought, ah-hah, I'll just make something extra to put in the shipment instead, how fun would that be! Well, let me tell you I found out the meaning of LABOR DAY! :-)

I'm very excited for all of you to get the goods, since I do think you will like it.

Once I catch my breath I'll post the first contest. thanks!! Jana

It all started with the Grey's Anatomy yarn and then Frasier.... My last purchase was desperate housewives:)

Sshhhhh--One of my favorite things to do is to get up early in the morning and watch chick flicks:) Its great to have some alone time with the girls and a nice cup of Joe....b4 my DH and son wake up - Yay!
